About Us
The Traverse Area District Library (TADL), a network of community libraries, has six facilities in Grand Traverse County that provide innovative services and programming for its patrons. The lending collection includes over 300,000 books, audiobooks, movies, music CDs, magazines, video games, e-books, downloadable audiobooks and magazines, and puppets as well as non-circulating genealogy and local history collections. The library also subscribes to a number of online subscription services that can assist patrons learn everything from a new language to car repair to investment strategy. TADL programming, aimed at learners of all ages, includes storytimes, book discussions, local author and musicians events, movies, hands-on database training and crafts. The library also collaborates with a number of local organizations and groups, including SCORE, the Grand Traverse Area Literacy Council, the Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society, and the History Center of Traverse City to provide additional services and programs.
The Woodmere Branch has both study and meeting room space available and is the regional home of the Talking Book Library, a service for visually and physically impaired patrons in Grand Traverse and seven surrounding counties.
Any resident of the TADL service area is entitled to a free library card. Visitors are welcome to use the TADL lending collection but some restrictions may apply. Stop by any branch or member library to apply for a card or apply online at www.tadl.org.
