DESCRIPTION:When the local construction industry began experiencing critical gaps in high-skill trades and technical occupations\, they banded together to create a partnership focused on creating a sustainable workforce. Initiatives include increased training and educational opportunities\, apprenticeships\, and the promotion of skilled trades. Find out how to support this initiative or use this model to grow your own industry sector. The conversation will be facilitated by Jason and Dan with Northwestern Michigan College. \n\n\n\nYou will be guided through a panel discussion with:\n\nBob O'Hara\, Executive Director - Home Builders Association of Grand Traverse\n\nKendra Balderach\, Executive Director - Builders Exchange of Northwestern Michigan\n\nChris Ostrowski\, Sales - Builders FirstSource\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJason Slade | Director of Technical Academic Areas at Northwestern Michigan College\n\n\n\nJason Slade oversees 8 disciplines and 12 specializations as Director of the Technical Academic Areas at Northwestern Michigan College.    Prior to this role\, he was a faculty member in the engineering technology program teaching courses in electronics and electrical systems.  Before coming to NMC\, Jason was a program coordinator at Mott Community College and an electrical engineer in the automotive industry.   He is passionate about connecting students to high-demand careers in technology.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDan Goodchild: Construction Trade Coordinator at Northwestern Michigan College.
