Description

Traverse Connect, in partnership with the Michigan Office of Rural Prosperity (ORP), is pleased to offer an exclusive, hands-on grant writing workshop tailored for local governments, nonprofit organizations, and regional economic development partners.  Thanks to the ORP, there is no cost to attend.

This interactive workshop will be facilitated by Davenport University's Institute for Professional Excellence (IPEx), and will equip participants with the tools and knowledge to:

  • Discuss the importance of grant writing to nonprofits and other organizations seeking funding
  • Describe how capital grants and endowment grants can be integrated into fundraising efforts, including matching funds
  • Explain how grant writing and fundraising represent complimentary methods of ensuring a nonprofit's financial stability
  • Outline the six stages of the grant writing process
  • Explore tools and techniques employed in writing the grant proposal
  • Outline best practices for grant writing
  • Apply your understanding of the grant writing process to case studies covering the six stages
The goal of these workshops is to ensure each participant leaves with a tangible draft or outline of a grant proposal specific to their opportunity and the confidence needed to seek funding for their organization's mission. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, receive feedback, and network with fund seekers from other organizations.

To ensure broad regional representation and maximize the impact of the grant workshops, we kindly ask that each organization designate one participant to attend, due to limited capacity.
