Build Trusting Teams | Simon Sinek
Featuring content from Stephen Shedletzky and Rich Diviney
What is Build Trusting Teams?
A team is any group of two or more people working together toward a common goal or objective. Teams are in all facets of organizations, businesses and life. Trust is vital to a team’s success, but how do we actually put it into practice?
Building on Simon’s books, The Infinite Game & Leaders Eat Last, and Rich Diviney’s book, The Attributes, this interactive class explores the necessary components to build trust, leaving you with practical and actionable steps that will yield sustainable long-term results for your leadership and with your team. In this class we’ll take you through the core components to build trust:
- Create a Circle of Safety
- Show vulnerability
- Use candor with care
- Live your culture

Stephen Shedletzky (Pronounced Shed-Let’s-Ski) Head of Brand Experience & Lead Igniter at Simon Sinek
Stephen engages with people in meaningful ways so that we connect with depth and live in a more fulfilled world. With a knack for sharing the right words at the right moment, he delivers evidence-based content in a provocative, captivating and light-hearted way.
Feeling stifled on his corporate track, Stephen was struck by Sinek’s vision of a more inspired, safe and fulfilled world. He joined with Simon in 2012. What started as a position answering fan email, Stephen now leads Brand Experience and the team of Igniters and WHY Facilitators to ensure every product, partnership and communication reflects the organization’s most deeply-held values and beliefs.
As an Igniter himself, he guides leaders and organizations to adopt the mindset and actions needed to lead in The Infinite Game. A dedicated aide to the Simon Sinek team and those they serve, Stephen is first in line to support those who seek to discover, articulate and live their WHY.
With the right mix of passion, experience and professionalism, Stephen was an obvious choice to narrate the audiobook for the 2017 best-seller Find Your Why. He co-hosted the Start With Why Podcast, tallying nearly 900,000 downloads in more than 180 countries.
Stephen graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business with a focus in leadership, communication and strategy. He brings the message to inspire to people and organizations around the world and serves clients in nearly every industry. Stephen lives in Toronto, Canada with his wife and two children.

Rich Diviney (Director of Outreach for the Barry-Wehmiller Leadership Institute)
Rich wakes up every day to discover, inspire, and accelerate the potential of human beings. His deeply held belief is that each individual has unlimited potential that, once unlocked, can lead to not only living the life of one’s purpose and dreams – but also allow for inspirational contribution to others. This potential often goes untapped due to a lack of understanding and resources from which to draw upon.
It was these beliefs that lead Rich to read Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why” and subsequently develop a friendship with him. Through that friendship he was introduced to Bob Chapman and Barry-Wehmiller’s philosophy on human centered leadership. After meeting Bob and his team, he knew that this was a family and mission that he was meant to be a part of.
As a Director of Outreach for the Barry-Wehmiller Leadership Institute, Rich draws upon 20+ years of experience as a Navy SEAL Officer where he completed more than 13 overseas deployments – 11 of which were to Iraq and Afghanistan. Through his career, he has achieved multiple leadership positions – to include the Commanding Officer of a Navy SEAL Command. It has been this experience that has forged in his belief system that every human being has a purpose – and why Bob Chapman’s “Everybody Matters” philosophy resonates so deeply. The Barry-Wehmiller Leadership Institute serves this principle.
Originally from Connecticut, Rich has graduate degrees in International Relations and History. He lives with his wife and two young boys in Virginia Beach, VA.
