Auditor
Join the Audit team at Dennis, Gartland & Niergarth to work with clients in a variety of industries and gain exposure to interesting new projects. Our growing public accounting firm has exciting opportunities for various levels of experience from entry-level to senior auditors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Records transactions in ledgers, prepare trial balances and simple financial statements using various computer software programs.
- Reconciles accounts to control accounts.
- Performs schedule computations of accruals, property and equipment and calculate depreciation expense.
- Performs audit or review procedures as assigned by supervisors.
- Prepares payroll tax, sales or other local tax and certain personal income tax returns.
- Assists in proofing financial statements, tax returns and other documents.
- Performs other accounting, auditing and tax duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Obtains working knowledge of accounting, depreciation and tax computer software.
Education and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in accounting or closely corresponding field
- CPA license preferred
- Either hold a current and valid Certified Public Accountant license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam
- A current, valid driver license
- Public accounting experience working on audit engagements
- Strong relationship management and practice development skills
- Demonstrates independent thinking and strong decision-making skills
- Experience with a variety of industries and types of audits (EBP, government, non-profit, etc.) preferred
