The Village of Kingsley is seeking an energetic, motivated, and community-minded professional to serve in a unique leadership role that combines zoning administration, downtown development, and community engagement.
This position is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact in a small but growing community by improving development processes, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the overall vibrancy of downtown Kingsley.
 
What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary contact for zoning and land use inquiries
  • Review and process zoning permits and development applications
  • Work with residents, contractors, and developers to guide projects
  • Support the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals
  • Act as staff liaison to the Downtown Development Authority (DDA)
  • Collaborate with business owners to support growth and retention
  • Help attract new businesses and investment to the Village
  • Plan and coordinate community events (e.g., winter light parade)
  • Lead marketing efforts to promote Kingsley and its businesses
  • Manage social media, communications, and outreach initiatives
 
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Interest in community development and local government
  • Experience in planning, zoning, economic development, or public administration (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Michigan zoning and land use practices (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in planning/zoning or a similar field (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range and benefits will be based on qualifications and experience. This position is initially supported through grant funding, with the intent of long-term sustainability.
