PACE North is recruiting a compassionate, dependable Driver for full time and part time positions.
- You will be responsible for the direct transportation of physically limited passengers to and from their destinations. Position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies.
- Effectively communicates with participants, families, staff, and other agencies and departments.
- Drives a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited persons to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and that participants are delivered to appointment in a timely manner.
- Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.
- Assists passengers on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner and escorting participants safely to the door. Deals with medical equipment and other emergencies that may arise.
- Inspects van and maintains it in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Reports the need for maintenance.
- Reports changes in a participant’s home situation or behavior to Transportation Coordinator.
- Provides pick-up and delivery service including meals, medications, laundry, incontinence products, DME, etc.
- Demonstrates active participation in QI plan processes.
- Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Attends staff meetings and takes part in participant care planning. Communicates any changes in participant condition to team members.
- Completes documentation as required.
- Abides by all established PACE North policies, rules, and regulations.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Registry/Certification: Valid MI Chauffeur’s driver’s license with good driving record; CPR and basic first aid certification.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working with a frail or elderly population preferred.
Skills: Must be able to physically operate handicap accessible vehicles.
- Must possess the skills necessary to provide care for geriatric patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Possess basic computing skills in the workplace.
- Act within the authorized scope of practice.
- Ability to meet a standardized set of competencies for the specific position description established by PACE North and approved by CMS before working independently.
Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have recommended immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct contact with participants.
