Job Summary

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) provides services to Missaukee, Wexford, Emmett, Charlevoix, Grand Traverse, Antrim, Manistee, Benzie, Leelanau and Kalkaska counties, under the Michigan Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (MLTCOP). The Ombudsman activities include resident advocacy services, family support, and consumer education. The position functions in licensed long term care nursing facilities, adult foster care homes, and homes for the aged. The Long-Term Care Ombudsman acts as liaison between residents, families, caregivers, and advocacy programming, with the central mission to deliver advocacy options and services to individuals residing in homes licensed as Nursing Facilities, Adult Foster Care Homes and Homes for the Aged. This position may also collaborate with local entities for elder abuse awareness and prevention strategies within the region.

Candidate must live within the 10-county AAANM service area of northwest Michigan. This is hybrid position that requires regional travel on a regular basis throughout northwest Michigan.
