Sales Associate

Elk Rapids Marina is looking for a sales associate to work in our new Traverse City showroom. This individual will welcome all walk-in guests into our downtown location who may be interested in learning more about the Marina, consulting on the boat brands we carry and sell, scheduling rental boat inquiries, and collecting customer contact information to generate new boat sales leads.

This position will work in partnership with the Sales Team through the full sales cycle, and boat delivery process, as well as provide continued support through customer ownership.

We are looking for a team player who is energetic, hard-working, customer sales- focused, and very flexible to travel and work weekends to attend boat shows, events, and demo boat rides.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn and sell water sport equipment.
  • Inventory management.
  • Actively engage and welcome all customers, understanding their needs to provide tailored sales solutions through our boats and products.
  • Work together with the Sales Manager to manage and grow new and used boat sales pipeline.
  • Provide in-depth product knowledge while responding to customer sales or lead inquiries in person or by email, phone, or text.
  • Assist in setting up boat shows, community events across the state, and field demo rides with customers, which includes some physical work i.e. heavy lifting, trailering boats, and operating boats) Training will be involved.
  • Work closely with General Management to share sales activity such as customer traffic onsite and weekly lead reports.
  • Collaborate in different areas of the Marina’s business, adapting to a variety of roles as needed.
  • Maintain professional and technical product knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and establishing professional networks by participating in local networking events.
  • Assist with boat rentals.
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Must know how to drive a boat.
  • Assist with bookings.
  • Check customers in and out.
  • Clean & Inspect boat.... Comfortable to drive to nearby gas dock to fill up boats.


Sales Representative Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proven experience in high-end sales and experience with boats is highly desired but not mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • A team-oriented individual who thrives in the dynamic Marine business environment.
  • Open to travel for show setups, demo boat drives, and attending marketing events.
  • Familiarity with office software & phone systems
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
