POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting with all aspects of daily ski hill operations during the winter season. This position is hands on and customer facing, providing excellent guest service while overseeing slope operations, coordinating staff, and maintaining the ski area. In the absence of the Hickory Hills Manager, the Slope Supervisor provides general supervision of the seasonal workforce.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Assist with daily operations, including coordinating hill usage, assigning duty stations, and managing employee breaks.
  • Supervise 10–15 seasonal staff, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to safety and conduct guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing guest questions, concerns, and any issues that arise on the slopes.
  • Carry out daily opening and closing procedures for the hill.
  • Perform general ski area maintenance, including snow removal, clearing sidewalks and corrals, and assisting with equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Assist National Ski Patrol volunteers as needed.
  • Help coordinate hill use with public visitors, teams, and clubs.
  • Must be comfortable working mostly outdoors in winter conditions and able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, shoveling, and walking on snow or ice.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

RELEVANT DETAILS

2 openings available. Shift 1: Sun 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Mon-Weds 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM. Shift 2: Weds-Fri 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM, Sat 11:30 AM – 9:30 PM. Schedules may be adjusted, but this reflects general expectations. Dec– Mar, $20–$22/hr

PHYSICAL DEMAND and WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and interact with guests and staff. The position involves frequent use of hands and arms for maintenance, equipment handling, and operational tasks. Employees must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds and frequently lift items up to 30 pounds. Work is performed primarily outdoors on slopes, in varying weather conditions including snow, ice, and cold temperatures. Tasks require standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, shoveling, and reaching for extended periods.

Noise levels vary from quiet (office areas) to loud (slope operations and guest activity). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
