About Us

Venture North Funding and Development is a tax-exempt nonprofit that helps small businesses grow in northwest Michigan. One of our primary missions is to reach budding businesses owners and established entrepreneurs who often go overlooked in traditional lending scenarios.

Since being founded 16 years ago, we have made hundreds of affordable loans creating or retaining more than 1,000 jobs in the region. We have loaned over $11 million, leveraging more than $40 million; awarded 450 small grants amounting to over $1.2 million and provided over 9,300 hours of no-cost business consulting.
