The SPE Automotive Innovation Award for Safety was presented to GTP

 
Traverse City, Michigan, November 14, 2024 – Grand Traverse Plastics (GTP), a leader in customized plastic injection molded components, received the Safety Award from the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) at the 53^rd Annual SPE Automotive Innovation Awards Gala in Livonia Michigan. This recognition was a joint achievement alongside General Motors, Quest Industries, Celanese, and Syensquo.

The busbar cable support bracket innovation successfully addressed risks associated with isolation loss, thermal runaway, and high-voltage operator exposure during service. Scrap generation was reduced by 99%, and the number of fasteners was halved, streamlining the design. This award-winning solution was achieved through collaboration among a cross-functional team, with representatives from the OEM, two different material suppliers, the tool maker, and the manufacturer.
