Norte Honors Kiwanis Club of Traverse City for More Than a Decade of Support
Norte and its Bike Safety Camp program recognized the Kiwanis Club of Traverse City on August 5 for more than a decade of support for Norte’s mission to help local children become safer, more confident cyclists.
The Kiwanis Club of Traverse City was among the first community organizations to support Norte, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for kids to ride bikes, build confidence and develop lifelong healthy habits.
For more than 10 years, Kiwanis support has helped Norte provide bike safety education and programming to children throughout the Grand Traverse community. “The Kiwanis Club of Traverse City seeks to support children’s initiatives here in town, and a bike safety program for kids is an excellent example of this,” said Marc Judge, a Kiwanis Club member.
A significant source of that support comes from the Kiwanis Club’s annual Flag Project, its largest fundraiser of the year. Through the program, community members and businesses sponsor American flags displayed throughout Traverse City during patriotic holidays and special occasions. “100% of the sponsorship funds from the Flag Project go to children’s programs or initiatives in our community, and Norte is one of the programs we are proud to support,” Judge said.
Alex Zelinski, Norte’s Director of Operations and Community Partnerships, expressed his appreciation for the club’s longstanding partnership. “We truly appreciate your partnership,” Zelinski said. “We couldn’t do this without you.”
The Kiwanis Club of Traverse City continues its commitment to supporting children and youth throughout the community through fundraising, service projects and partnerships with local organizations.
