Northwest Education Services Adult Education Program Honors 47 Student Achievements at Graduation Ceremony
The Northwest Education Services Adult Education program proudly celebrated the accomplishments of 47 adult learners during a heartfelt graduation ceremony held Wednesday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Milliken Auditorium, Traverse City.
The event recognized nine students who earned their high school diploma and 38 who successfully completed the GED, receiving their High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate. Three graduates shared moving speeches, highlighting the personal challenges they overcame on their path to achieving this milestone.
Six of the graduates, along with three other students, were inducted into the prestigious National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS). Honorees were selected by their instructors based on exemplary attendance, a positive and cooperative attitude, and consistent effort and initiative in their studies.
Membership in the NAEHS is a lifelong honor awarded to a select group of students who demonstrate these qualities throughout their time in the program.
“This event is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when adults are given the support, tools, and encouragement to achieve their educational goals,” said Christy Nelson, Regional Director of Adult Education. “Each student follows a personalized learning plan that supports their unique career and life goals.”
The Northwest Education Services Adult Education program plays a vital role in preparing adult learners—many of whom are already active in our communities—for success in today’s workforce. Through a partnership between Northwest Education Services, Networks Northwest, and Northwest Michigan Works!, the program operates six Learning Labs across Northwest Michigan. These labs offer year-round instruction with flexible daytime and evening hours. Learners can enroll at any time and progress at their own pace.
