Students Honored with JMG Scholarship
We are pleased to announce that Riley Brown and Anna Berg, Jobs for Michigan Graduates (JMG) College Success Program students with Northwestern Michigan College, are recipients of the Northwest Michigan Works! JMG Scholarship this year. Each recipient will be awarded $500 sent directly to the institution of their choice to support their educational pursuits.
Brown is a passionate individual who is interested in a career to assist other young people, just as JMG helped her. Brown will be attending Grand Valley State University this fall to pursue education or human services. Berg initially pursued a career in auto repair, where she gained valuable hands-on experience. However, after several years, she transitioned to a role as a nurse assistant, ultimately discovering where her true passion lies. Berg is now studying for an associate degree in nursing.
Their JMG Specialist, Lisa Baldyga, states, "I’m incredibly proud of these two JMG students for earning this scholarship. They’ve overcome challenges, stayed committed to their goals, and are now being recognized for their potential. It’s moments like this that show the impact of the JMG program and the bright futures these young adults are building for themselves!'
Locally, the Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates program is delivered by Northwest Michigan Works!, a program of Networks Northwest, in partnership with intermediate school districts, postsecondary institutions, and Youth Solutions. We are so proud of these fantastic JMG students and wish them all the best in the future!
