Traverse City Horse Shows to Celebrate Local Nonprofits During the 55th American Gold Cup Event will celebrate local charities and crown one of show jumping’s most prestigious champions

Traverse City, MI – September 17, 2025 — This Sunday, September 21, the 55th American Gold Cup will close the season at Flintfields Horse Park with world-class show jumping and a celebration of community impact.

Traverse City Horse Shows (TCHS) will honor its 14 Charity Ticket Program partners, presenting a season-total donation check representing 100% of general admission ticket revenue from 2025. Officials expect it to surpass $50,000 for the season. Representatives from each nonprofit will be on site for recognition, photos, and media interviews.

The presentation will take place immediately following the $340,000 American Gold Cup CSI5* Grand Prix, one of North America’s most prestigious show jumping competitions, beginning at 2 PM in the Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel International Ring.

“This program continues to show how sport and community go hand in hand,” said Matthew Morrissey, Event Director of TCHS. “We’re proud to support local organizations that make a difference across Northern Michigan.”

About the American Gold Cup

First held in 1970, the American Gold Cup is among show jumping’s most storied titles, boasting past winners that include Olympians, world champions, and rising stars. Traverse City became the Cup’s permanent home in 2021, adding to its five-decade legacy.

This year’s field includes World No. 1 Kent Farrington (USA), six-time Olympian McLain Ward (USA), Canada’s top-ranked rider Erynn Ballard, Ireland’s Daniel Coyle (world top 15), and last year’s champion Shane Sweetnam (IRL, world top 20), who aims to join the select few to win the Gold Cup in back-to-back years.
