Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Deep in the woods of Northern Michigan, artistic disciplines merge and unbreakable bonds form. Making art. Working joyfully. Creating a life of purpose. Interlochen Center for the Arts is looking to hire a full-time Maintenance Technician - 2nd shift in our Maintenance Department.

Position Summary: This position works 2nd Shift hours, typically from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Tuesdays through Saturdays. Performs work order requests, preventative maintenance and repairs on-campus buildings, mechanical equipment, light bulb replacements, and utility systems. They also back up custodians as needed. Responds to emergency events, plumbing backups, and many other assigned tasks. Jack of all trades type of position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove trash, recycling & debris around campus

  • Work order-driven; team & individual assignments

  • Answer maintenance calls, troubleshoot issues, contact other on-call trades for urgent issues.

  • Ability to lift, climb ladders and work from heights.

  • Setup & teardown tables, chairs, event equipment as directed.

  • Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

  • Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment.

  • Snow Removal during Shift

  • Remove/Install window screens, prepping seasonal buildings for opening or closing.

  • Preventative maintenance work orders on Utility systems

  • Performs other duties as assigned, which can include special projects, minor building maintenance, mail delivery/pickup and assistance with Integrated Pest Management

  • Seeks the best use of materials, equipment and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Complies with ICA policies/procedures and acts as a good steward of ICA finances.

  • Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in campus buildings and outside of buildings with contact with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Experience:

Education:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • One year of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.

  • Working knowledge of light and some heavy equipment operation principles, practices and procedures; working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to the position; working knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and repair functions.

  • Any Skilled Trade experience is preferred

Equipment Familiarity:

  • Experience working on a Mac Laptop, Google Suite, MS Office Suite,

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

  • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
