AI and the Human Future: Who—or What—Will We Become?

TRAVERSE CITY—Everyone is discussing what AI may become, but few have thought how it may transform the human race.

Generation AI—those who are born after 2022—will be the first humans to grow up in a world of immersive AI, intelligent robots, and the increasingly thin boundary between the born and the made. This generation will differ fundamentally from us, yet their future is our future too. On Sunday, August 9 at the City Opera House, futurist, scholar and entrepreneur Gregory Stock, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of “The Book of Questions,” will talk with Jordan Lindberg, a digital commerce entrepreneur and former university philosophy instructor.

Stock has turned his curious mind to artificial intelligence, asking questions that delve into the evolution of humans, who are now living side-by-side with a super brain with no shortage of capacity for infiltrating the most intimate corners of our lives. With predictions of a post-literate world and sending data centers into space, Gregory Stock wants you to think about the implications of this new technology. His new book, Generation AI: The Transformation of Human Being, is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the profound transformation already underway—and our place within it.
