Celly Health Featured on CBS Sports for Helping Collegiate Athlete Return to Competition
Traverse City, Mich. — Celly Health is proud to announce its recent feature on CBS Sports during coverage of the 2026 Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) Honda Inspiration Award, highlighting the inspiring journey of San Diego State University swimmer Alyssa Schiller.
The Honda Inspiration Award recognizes a collegiate athlete who has demonstrated extraordinary perseverance, leadership, and courage while overcoming significant adversity. Schiller was selected as one of this year's finalists after returning to competitive swimming following years of debilitating health challenges.
For nearly three years, Schiller experienced severe shaking, nausea, dizziness, temporary vision loss, and other life-altering symptoms while continuing to compete at the collegiate level. Despite extensive efforts to find answers, her condition remained undiagnosed.
Her journey eventually led her to Dr. Bruce Patterson of Celly Health, where she was diagnosed with Lyme disease and Bartonella, providing long-awaited answers that helped guide her path forward. Following treatment, Schiller returned to the pool during the 2025–26 season and once again earned Top 10 performances in San Diego State history.
The CBS Sports segment showcased Schiller's resilience and determination while highlighting the importance of identifying the underlying causes of complex, chronic illnesses.
"We are incredibly proud of Alyssa and all she has overcome," said the Celly Health team. "Her determination is inspiring, and we're honored that Dr. Bruce Patterson was able to play a role in helping her find answers after years of uncertainty."
Celly Health specializes in evidence-based, patient-centered care for individuals facing complex health concerns, including chronic inflammatory conditions, Lyme disease, Long COVID, and other illnesses that often require a deeper diagnostic approach. The organization is committed to helping patients better understand persistent symptoms through comprehensive evaluation and personalized care.
As awareness of chronic inflammatory illnesses continues to grow, stories like Schiller's serve as an important reminder that patients experiencing persistent, unexplained symptoms deserve to be heard, supported, and thoroughly evaluated.
The CWSA Honda Inspiration Award winner will be announced on CBS Sports during the final awards broadcast on Monday, July 27.
