Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Sunrise
The Rotary Club of Traverse Bay Sunrise, formed in 1999, is a diverse group of compassionate and enthusiastic men and women dedicated to improving our community-locally and globally-through focused, collaborative service made possible by our commitments of time, talent and treasure. We have approximately 60 members (60/40 split of men/women) and are known for our fun-loving spirit, high-energy and a casual/informal atmosphere that welcomes all newcomers who have an interest in engaging and serving. No invitation is required to join us at our weekly program. Please drop by!
Our signature community service project is BackPacks for Kids. Launched in 2004, each year we provide approximately 1,500 backpacks with school supplies to financially challenged students in TCAPS and in the surrounding 5-county area.
Our global service focus is providing sustainable access to fresh water. In 2013 we personally installed 195 water filters in Honduras and we plan to return in spring of 2015 to continue the work.
We partner with the other two Traverse City-based Rotary Clubs to support a phenomenal youth exchange program, and enjoy the active participation of these students at our meetings and projects throughout their exchange.
